Client motivation

Drop your ambitions on behalf of the client: lately I've been in contact with a homeless client whose situation I've been very involved with. It's really reminded me of a point my old practice manager Allan Holmgren taught me. Do you have ambitions on behalf of the client? If so, realize it and then drop it. So you can stay close to the client's own motivation. The client wanted something different than what I could suggest. I'm afraid that not much will come of the client's wishes, but they were the client's wishes after all - andI won't get anywhere with my well-intentioned suggestions. We'll have to wait and see. Maybe they'll make it after all. I hope they do.
