Everyone has a psychological strategy for dealing with stress.
Everyone has a psychological strategy for dealing with stresses/crises. It's called Defense Mechanisms in Psychodynamics and is primarily about how you deal with emotions such as anxiety. This can include suppressing, repressing, denying, or embellishing the problem. Blaming others. Reaction formation: Instead of getting upset or angry, you think that the stress is not problematic and may react with care or interest instead.
The cognitive school focuses on people's way of thinking, the Cognitive Style, and primarily focuses on how people think in relation to their problems: e.g. magnifying/diminishing the problematic, focusing selectively on anything negative.
To me, there is a lot of overlap between the two approaches. They are both about how to approach problematic experiences. The dynamic one is primarily about anxiety and the cognitive one is mostly about thinking. Emotions and thinking affect each other mutually and are related. From a cognitive approach, you can work with both.
By addressing your stresses with a psychologist, you can consider your approach to your problems and prioritize and choose how you want to respond.
